Samuel Schlaefli is a freelance environmental and science journalist based in Switzerland. He regularly reports on science, society and the environment for various magazines, newspapers, online platforms and podcasts. His work has appeared in GEO, Spiegel Online, Der Standard, NZZ am Sonntag, The Globe and Mail, SRF and WOZ. He studied journalism and social sciences and holds an MA in Changing Societies from the University of Basel. As a science journalist, over the years he has become increasingly interested in the links between natural and social phenomena. In 2024, he was selected for a FRONTIERS fellowship at the University of Aarhus in Denmark. In 2022, he was awarded the “Prix Média” by the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) for outstanding science journalism. In 2019, he co-founded “treibhaus – der klimapodcast”, a monthly podcast about different aspects of the ongoing climate crisis.
