Helen Thompson is professor of political economy at Cambridge University. She is the author of Disorder: Hard Times in the 21st Century (2022, OUP); Oil and the Western Economic Crisis (2017, Palgrave Macmillan); and Might, Right, Prosperity and Consent: Representative Democracy and the International Economy 1919-2001 (2008, Manchester University Press).
